Institutional Mission, Purpose, and Objectives
The mission and purpose of Senate College is to offer unique and innovative educational service to qualified applicants, with a particular focus on those who are mature adults, employed on a full-time basis, or for whom place of residence, travel requirements, or finances are constraining factors. This capable, accomplished and motivated segment of society is poorly served by traditional education delivery and assessment models.
This is an era in which tertiary education establishments have become for-profit businesses, leading to the cost of pursuing a degree becoming prohibitively expensive. Graduates are increasingly being saddled with huge student loan debt that many take decades to pay off, if at all.
A particularly frustrating facet of this profit motive concerns its impact upon accomplished individuals who enter into tertiary education with prior learning and experience that is worthy of recognition for credit. Many traditional institutions make grand gestures and proclamations about their willingness to grant credit in this way, only for the students to find that the costs of doing so actually exceeds the cost of taking the classes.

Senate College operates entirely without a profit motive. The school administration are volunteers and profits are donated to the humanitarian efforts of EDU in developing countries around the world.

The main objective of Senate College is to cut costs and to utilize advancing technologies in the delivery of its educational services, which includes making full use of a modern state-of-the-art degree verification facility.

Accreditation

Here are three facts about Accreditation that may surprise you:

Firstly, Accreditation is voluntary, not obligatory. Colleges can elect to be unaccredited.

Here is a quote from the US Department of Education on that matter:

“The database does not include a number of postsecondary educational institutions and programs that elect not to seek accreditation but nevertheless may provide a quality postsecondary education.”

Secondly, Accreditation is not an endorsement of quality.

Here is a quote from the US Department of Education on that matter:

"The accreditation database is brought to you by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Post-secondary Education (OPE). The database is provided as a public service without warranty of any kind. The database does not constitute an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Education of any of the educational institutions or programs."

Thirdly, the US Department of Education is limited to activities inside the Unites States. Here is a quote from the US Department of Education on that matter:

"The Secretary of Education’s recognition of accrediting agencies is limited by statute to accreditation activities within the United States. Although many recognized agencies carry out accrediting activities outside the United States, these actions are not within the legal authority of the Department of Education to recognize, are not reviewed by the Department, and the Department does not exercise any oversight over them."

Senate College is not a US based University and is therefore ineligible for accreditation in the US.

Senate College has not sought, and does not feel compelled to seek, any form of Accreditation or third party endorsement.

The innate Transparency of the Senate College process removes the need for Senate College to participate in an expensive accreditation system. Since the middle of the twentieth century the burgeoning accreditation industry has burdened academia with ever growing costs whilst providing little or no useful information about institutional, academic or educational quality and no guarantees concerning the quality of a degree or graduate.

In contrast, our graduates, literally and figuratively, stand by their work, negating the need for any third party accreditation process to endorse their academic achievement.
